Gujarat To Emerge as a Self-Reliant Maritime Hub: The state accounts for around 60% of the country’s shipbuilding order book

“While India aims to become one of the top five shipbuilding nations by 2047, Gujarat is poised to play a crucial role to achieve this goal. The state accounts for about 60% of the country’s shipbuilding order book. A self-reliant shipbuilding ecosystem is essential to strengthen India’s position in the global supply chain. Supported by the Rs. 69,725 crore package and the Samudra Se Samriddhi initiative, Gujarat can play a significant role in creating self-reliance in the maritime sector.”

Gujarat has the potential to lead India’s maritime self-reliance and become a global shipbuilding destination. Vibrant Gujarat is becoming a powerful platform for transforming industries. “The focused efforts of platforms like Vibrant Gujarat and from Gujarat Maritime Board, Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board are continuously strengthening the state’s leadership in port-driven, multimodal infrastructure development”, said Mr. Suresh Kumar R. This transformation requires enabling framework to facilitate collaboration between government, industry, and global partners, so that policy objectives can be linked to implementation.
